Why We Don't Prescribe Compounded GLP-1s
When GLP-1 medications were in shortage and brand-name options were unaffordable for most patients, compounding filled a real gap. That gap has closed. Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly now offer direct-to-patient pharmacy programs with fixed cash-pay pricing that didn't exist two years ago. Oral Wegovy® is available at $149/month — less than what many compounding providers charge for their unapproved alternatives.
