Boxed Warning: Risk of Thyroid C-Cell Tumors
In rodents, Semaglutide and Tirzepatide caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is unknown whether these medications cause thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans.
Who Should NOT Take GLP-1 Medications
- Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
- Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
- Known hypersensitivity or serious allergy to Wegovy® (semaglutide), Oral Wegovy® (semaglutide), Zepbound® Vials or KwikPen (tirzepatide), or any of their ingredients
- Currently pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
- History of pancreatitis
- Type 1 Diabetes (unless directed by specialist)
Common Side Effects
Most side effects are mild to moderate and often improve as your body adjusts to the medication. Gastrointestinal issues are the most common.

- • Abdominal pain
- • Heartburn / Acid Reflux
General & Local (Injection)
- • Fatigue
- • Headache
- • Dizziness
- • Injection site reactions (redness, itching)
- • Decreased appetite
Serious Side Effects
Stop taking the medication and seek medical attention if you experience:
Signs of Pancreatitis
Severe pain in your stomach area (abdomen) that will not go away, with or without vomiting. The pain may be felt going from your abdomen to your back.
Gallbladder Problems
Pain in your upper stomach (abdomen), fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), or clay-colored stools.
Kidney Problems
Change in the amount of urine, swelling in feet/ankles, or confusion/fatigue (often due to dehydration from vomiting/diarrhea).
Severe Allergic Reaction
Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; problems breathing or swallowing; severe rash or itching; fainting or feeling dizzy; or very rapid heartbeat.
