Wegovy® without insurance — paying cash in 2026

If your insurance denies Wegovy® — or you'd rather skip insurance entirely — Imbue ships brand-name Wegovy® from NovoCare at the manufacturer's cash-pay rate of $199/mo. Plus a $29/mo physician membership. Total: $228–$428/mo (by dose).

Why insurance keeps denying Wegovy®

Weight-loss exclusions

Many employer and marketplace plans explicitly exclude GLP-1s when prescribed for weight management, even when they cover the same drug for diabetes.

Step therapy & prior authorisation

Plans that do cover Wegovy® often require you to fail cheaper medications first, then submit a prior-authorisation request that can take weeks — and still be denied.

Specialty-tier copays

When approved, Wegovy® frequently lands on a high specialty tier, leaving a copay that can rival — or exceed — the cash-pay price.

Not sure where your plan stands? Our Insurance & GLP-1 Coverage guide covers when using insurance is actually the cheaper route.

How the cash-pay path works

  1. 1

    Complete your intake

A short online medical questionnaire about your health history and weight-loss goals. The $29/month membership covers the physician review.

  2. 2

    Physician confirms eligibility

A U.S.-licensed physician reviews your intake and, if Wegovy® is appropriate, writes the prescription. If it isn't, you aren't charged.

  3. 3

    Prescription routes to NovoCare

Your prescription goes directly to Novo Nordisk's NovoCare pharmacy program — no pharmacy counter, no insurance middleman.

  4. 4

    Medication ships to your door

NovoCare dispenses brand-name Wegovy® at the $199/month cash-pay rate and ships it to you.

  5. 5

    Ongoing care included

Dose adjustments, refills, and clinician messaging stay included in your flat $29/month membership.

Cash-pay vs fighting your insurer

Paying cash isn't always the obvious choice — but for Wegovy® it often wins on both price and time. With Imbue you pay a predictable $228/month all-in at the starting dose: no deductible to burn through, no prior-authorisation wait, no risk of a denial after weeks of back-and-forth.

If your plan genuinely covers Wegovy® at a low copay, insurance may still be cheaper — and we'll tell you so. But if you're facing an exclusion, step therapy, or a specialty-tier copay near the cash price, the manufacturer cash-pay route through NovoCare is usually faster and more predictable.

Eligibility for Wegovy®

No insurance is required to qualify — but the clinical criteria still apply. Wegovy® eligibility through Imbue:

  • Adults 18 and older in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
  • BMI ≥30, or BMI ≥25 with at least one weight-related condition (hypertension, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease).
  • No personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 syndrome.

BMI 25–26.9 is below FDA label thresholds and prescribed at the provider's discretion. BMI under 25 may be considered in cases of abnormal weight gain, at the provider's discretion.
