Your Wegovy® Prescription Was Sent — Here's What Happens Next
Last clinically reviewed: July 21, 2026 by Dr. Prajeet Reddy, MD (Medical Director)

Your clinician has sent your cash-pay Wegovy® prescription to NovoCare® Pharmacy — Novo Nordisk's own direct pharmacy program. This is how Imbue Health sends every Wegovy® prescription, and most telehealth providers that offer cash-pay Wegovy® use the same pipeline.
Not an Imbue patient? This page still applies to you. The pharmacy side of the process — the messages, the timelines, the checkout, the delivery — is identical no matter which provider sent your prescription. Wherever this page says Imbue, substitute your prescriber. (Prescription sent to LillyDirect for Zepbound® or Foundayo™ instead? See the LillyDirect guide.)
The most important thing to know: you will likely receive more than one message. The first message means your prescription is being processed. A later, separate message will ask you to create an account, review your order, pay, and arrange delivery.
Your medication will not ship automatically when you receive the first message. You must wait for the checkout message and complete payment before NovoCare can ship it.
The Process at a Glance
- Your provider sends the prescription to NovoCare.
- NovoCare confirms that it received the prescription.
- NovoCare and its pharmacy partners process and validate it.
- You receive a separate checkout message.
- You create your pharmacy account, review the order, pay, and select delivery.
- The pharmacy prepares and ships the medication.
- You receive tracking updates and your medication is delivered.
The process is similar for oral and injectable Wegovy®, although packaging and medication-handling instructions may differ.
Step 1: Your Prescription Is Sent
After your clinician determines that Wegovy® is appropriate for you, an electronic prescription goes to NovoCare Pharmacy. At this point:
- Your prescription has been issued and the prescribing step is complete.
- NovoCare has not necessarily processed the prescription yet.
- Your medication has not been charged or shipped.
- No payment for the medication goes to your telehealth provider — NovoCare's pharmacy collects it later, at checkout.
NovoCare and its pharmacy partners — not your prescriber — control pharmacy processing, medication payment, delivery scheduling, and tracking.
Step 2: Look for the First Text Message
After NovoCare receives your prescription, you should get a welcome or confirmation text at the mobile number on your prescription. This first message may say that:
- Your prescription was received or is processing;
- Your prescription was sent to NovoCare "powered by CenterWell";
- A pharmacy partner will contact you with next steps; or
- You do not need to take any action yet.
This is not normally the payment message. Receiving it does not mean the medication is ready to ship — it means your prescription has entered the pharmacy's processing system.
You may also be asked to complete a consent, identity-verification, or patient-information form. Complete it promptly: the pharmacy may not continue processing until it is submitted. If the message specifically says no action is required, wait for the next message.
Step 3: NovoCare Processes Your Prescription
NovoCare reviews and validates the prescription before releasing it for checkout and fulfillment. Its official guidance says this processing may take a few days, and you may not receive daily updates during this window. The absence of a new message does not mean your provider failed to send the prescription.
NovoCare works with several pharmacy service providers, so your prescription may pass through more than one system:
- AssistRx may assist with patient intake, outreach, and support.
- CoAssist Pharmacy may handle prescription intake, routing, or dispensing.
- CenterWell Pharmacy may manage your account, collect payment, fulfill the prescription, provide tracking, and ship the medication.
Because of these partnerships, legitimate messages may identify NovoCare, CoAssist, AssistRx, or CenterWell. Seeing a different pharmacy name does not automatically mean your prescription went to the wrong place.
How long does processing take? As a practical guideline:
- Allow up to three business days for routine processing.
- Weekends and holidays may extend the wait.
- If you received the first message but no checkout message after three business days, contact NovoCare for a status check.
- If you receive an error, an unexpected insurance-authorization request, or a request to correct the prescription, contact NovoCare and notify your provider promptly.
This timeline is a guideline — actual processing and delivery dates vary with prescription volume, pharmacy hours, weekends, holidays, and whether the pharmacy needs clarification.
Step 4: Watch for the Checkout Message
Once processing is complete, NovoCare or its fulfillment partner sends a second message with instructions or a secure link to set up your pharmacy account, confirm your identity and delivery address, review your medication, enter payment, and schedule home delivery.
This is the message that requires action. Open it promptly — the pharmacy cannot ship the medication until payment is processed.
Before paying, confirm:
- The medication says Wegovy®;
- The form is correct — tablet or injection;
- The dose matches what you discussed with your clinician;
- The quantity, your name, and your shipping address are correct; and
- The displayed cash price is acceptable to you.
If anything appears incorrect, do not complete payment yet. Contact NovoCare and message your provider so the discrepancy can be reviewed.
Step 5: Complete Your Cash-Pay Purchase
NovoCare's cash-pay pharmacy — not your telehealth provider — collects payment for the medication. NovoCare currently lists these online payment options: credit or debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and eligible FSA or HSA cards.
Cash-pay prescriptions are generally processed outside your insurance benefits, so the purchase may not count toward your deductible or annual out-of-pocket maximum. Review NovoCare's current program terms if you have questions about how cash payment interacts with your coverage.
After submitting payment, save your order confirmation or take a screenshot for your records.
Step 6: Schedule Delivery and Watch for Tracking
After payment is processed, you can choose or schedule home delivery — NovoCare currently provides it at no additional shipping charge. You should then receive an order confirmation, a scheduled or estimated delivery date, and tracking information after the package ships.
A payment confirmation does not always mean the package has left the pharmacy — tracking may arrive separately once the carrier accepts it. Keep monitoring your texts, email (including spam folders), your CenterWell or other pharmacy-partner account, and the carrier's tracking page.
Your telehealth provider does not have access to NovoCare's payment system, warehouse, or shipping records. For payment, checkout, tracking, or delivery questions, NovoCare is usually the fastest source of information.
Step 7: When Your Medication Arrives
As soon as the package arrives:
- Confirm your name is on the prescription label and you received the correct Wegovy® form and dose.
- Inspect the medication and packaging for visible damage.
- Follow the storage directions on the pharmacy label and the included Medication Guide.
- Do not use medication that appears damaged, incorrect, or compromised — for a damaged shipment, NovoCare directs patients to call 1-800-967-9917 promptly.
- Keep the packaging and label until you've confirmed everything is correct.
For questions about when or how to take your medication, side effects, dose changes, or a missed dose, contact your care team. Do not change or double a dose without clinical guidance.
Still Waiting? Use This Checklist
No message at all after two business days: check blocked texts and spam folders, confirm your prescriber has your current mobile number, then call NovoCare at 1-888-809-3942 and ask whether it received the prescription. If NovoCare cannot locate it, message your provider to verify the transmission.
First message but no checkout message: this is the most common point of confusion — your prescription is likely still processing. After three business days, call NovoCare and say: "I am a cash-pay Wegovy patient. I received the initial processing message but have not received the account setup and payment link." Ask whether the prescription is waiting on consent, pharmacy review, clarification, or transfer to a fulfillment partner, and whether checkout can be completed by phone.
Checkout link broken or can't log in: do not repeatedly submit payment if you're unsure whether a transaction succeeded. Call NovoCare and ask which partner is fulfilling the order, whether an account already exists, whether payment was received, and whether checkout can be completed by phone.
Unexpected insurance-authorization request: the NovoCare cash-pay pathway operates outside the normal insurance process, and NovoCare's current prescriber materials state that no prior authorization is required for it. Call NovoCare, confirm your order is marked cash pay / self pay, and say you are not requesting insurance processing. Contact your provider if NovoCare needs a new prescription or clinical clarification.
Paid but no tracking: shipping confirmation can arrive separately from payment confirmation. If there's no tracking update by the next business day, call NovoCare with your order number and ask whether the order is paid, scheduled, packaged, and released to the carrier.
Wrong dose or form on the order: do not pay for or use medication that doesn't match your treatment plan. Contact both NovoCare and your provider — include a screenshot of the order page with payment details covered.
Close to your next scheduled dose: contact NovoCare immediately for order status and notify your care team for clinical guidance on the gap. Do not double a dose or restart at a different dose without instructions from your clinician.
Who Should I Contact?
Contact NovoCare (1-888-809-3942, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. ET) for: missing checkout or payment links, account or login problems, cash price and payment questions, duplicate or uncertain charges, delivery scheduling, shipping status and tracking, address changes before shipment, damaged packages, or transferring the prescription to another pharmacy.
Contact your prescriber — for Imbue patients, your Imbue care team — for: questions about your prescribed medication, form, or dose; clinical or side-effect questions; a medication or dose discrepancy; a request from NovoCare for prescription clarification; guidance after an interruption or missed dose; or confirmation that the prescription was sent.
Your prescriber can verify or correct a prescription, but cannot collect NovoCare's payment, activate its checkout link, schedule its delivery, or access its carrier tracking.
Paying More Than $29/Month for the Care Behind Your Prescription?
The NovoCare pharmacy process on this page is the same for every telehealth provider — the same brand-name Wegovy®, the same pharmacy, the same cash price for the medication. What varies is what you pay the provider that writes and manages your prescription.
Imbue Health's membership is $29/month — the lowest in the industry — and covers your physician evaluation, prescription, dose management, side-effect support, and unlimited care-team messaging. Wegovy® itself ships from NovoCare at the manufacturer's cash-pay price, exactly as described above. Switching is seamless: because it's the same medication from the same pharmacy, an Imbue physician simply takes over your care at your current dose. And if you're on Medicare, Imbue utilizes the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program — eligible patients pay a fixed $50/month for medication, $79/month all-in.

NovoCare, CenterWell, CoAssist, AssistRx, and Wegovy are not owned or operated by Imbue. Pharmacy processing times, pricing, eligibility, delivery options, and program terms are controlled by the applicable pharmacy or manufacturer and may change. This page explains the expected fulfillment process; it is not a promise of a particular processing or delivery date.
Frequently asked questions
Why did I receive one text and then nothing else?
The first message generally confirms receipt or processing. NovoCare sends the account and payment instructions only after pharmacy processing is complete — and those messages may arrive several days apart. If the checkout message hasn't arrived after three business days, call NovoCare at 1-888-809-3942 for a status check.
Does the first text mean my medication has shipped?
No. It usually means the prescription was received or routed for processing. You must receive the checkout instructions and complete payment before the pharmacy can ship anything. An unpaid prescription will remain unshipped.
Why is CenterWell or CoAssist contacting me instead of NovoCare?
NovoCare uses licensed pharmacy partners for intake, account setup, payment, fulfillment, and shipping — AssistRx for intake and outreach, CoAssist for prescription routing or dispensing, and CenterWell for accounts, payment, fulfillment, and tracking. Messages from these names are usually part of your legitimate NovoCare order.
How can I check whether a text is legitimate?
Never send payment-card information in an ordinary text reply. Use the secure pharmacy link, or call NovoCare at the number published on its official website: 1-888-809-3942. If you're uncertain, don't click the link — call the official number and ask a representative to verify the message.
Can my telehealth provider track my NovoCare order?
No. Once the prescription is at NovoCare, the pharmacy controls checkout, payment, fulfillment, and tracking — your prescriber (Imbue included) cannot see NovoCare's payment system or shipping records. NovoCare has the most current order status.
Will my medication ship automatically after the prescription is sent?
No. You must complete the pharmacy's checkout and payment steps first. The prescription being 'sent' starts the process; payment is what releases it to ship.
Is NovoCare home delivery free?
Yes — NovoCare currently states that home delivery is free once the prescription is processed and payment is completed. Tracking information is sent after the carrier accepts the package.
