What injecting actually involves
Once a week, you inject under the skin of your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm with a very short, fine needle — most patients say it's nearly painless and takes under a minute. Wegovy® comes as a single-dose pen; Zepbound® as vials or the four-dose KwikPen.
Your Imbue care team walks you through the first injection and manages your dose escalation — both medications start low and step up gradually to limit stomach-related side effects.
Injections vs pills
Injections currently hold the efficacy edge — Zepbound®'s 22% leads all options — while tablets (Foundayo™, Oral Wegovy®) trade some average efficacy for needle-free convenience. Cost is comparable: $199–$449/month for injections vs $149–$299/month for tablets, all at manufacturer cash-pay prices.
Frequently asked questions
Do weight loss injections hurt?
The needles are very short and fine (comparable to insulin needles). Most patients describe a brief pinch at most, and the injection takes seconds. Rotating sites weekly keeps skin comfortable.
Which injection works best?
Zepbound® posted the highest average weight loss in trials (up to 22% vs Wegovy®'s 15%) and won the SURMOUNT-5 head-to-head. Your physician weighs efficacy against your health history and tolerability.
How much do weight loss injections cost?
Through Imbue: Wegovy® from $199/month and Zepbound® from $299/month at manufacturer cash-pay prices, plus the $29/month membership. All-in: $228–$478/month.
Can I get the injections without seeing a doctor in person?
Yes — Imbue physicians evaluate you online (no video visit required in most states) and prescribe where clinically appropriate. Medication ships from NovoCare or LillyDirect to your door.
